- Julie Joy Williquette, 60, Howard, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012, at her home after a long and courageous battle against cancer, surrounded by her family. She was born September 28, 1951, in Green Bay, to the late James R. and Irene (Fruzen) Thorpe. As a graduate of West High School, she earned a four year scholarship for home education at U.W.-Stout. On June 12, 1971, she married Patrick Williquette at Annunciation Catholic Church in Green Bay. She loved working with the "mission ladies" at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and acquired many close friends. Through the years she has touched many lives in Lioness, VFW, and many other activities; and will sadly be missed. Her love for camping and fishing is only surpassed by her children and grandchildren, whom she greatly adored.
Julie is survived by her husband of 41 years, Patrick Sr.; her children, Patrick Jr. (Staci) Williquette, Matthew Williquette, Jacob Williquette, Heather (Vincent) Yanda, Jessica (Shane) Peche, all from the area; 14 grandchildren, James (who is serving in the Marines), Breeanna, Morgan, Madison, Tristen, Vincent, Hanna, Gracelyn, Cloe, Payton, Mason and Ava, two step-grandchildren, Jamie (attending U.W.-Madison) and Miles; four sisters, Janie (Jack) Behrendt, Linda (Roger) Hyde, Mary Ann (Tom) Peterson, Holly (Dan) Smith; three brothers, Dan (Kathy) Thorpe, Mark (Julie) Thorpe, Tim (Michelle) Thorpe; two sisters-in-law, Faye Eastman, Jill (Jim) Grunwald; three brothers-in-law, Mike McAvoye, Mike Williquette, Jack Williquette; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; and a sister-in-law, Karen McAvoye.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Veterans Memorial Services with the Duck Creek VFW Auxiliary Post #7534 will be at 7:15 p.m. Friday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Howard, from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John Bergstadt officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Howard.
