    • Leo Martin Metzler 77, Oshkosh, died peacefully Sunday evening October 6, 2002, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born March 21, 1925 in New Franken WI. the son of the late Cornelious and Cecelia (Hein) Metzler. Leo married Muriel (Boucher) on November 20, 1946 in Green Bay.
      He was owner of Metzler Sales and Service, Inc., an auto and truck equipment sales and repair business for 45 years. He was on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Auto and Truck dealers Association for 14 years. He was a past President and 38 year perfect attendance member of Kiwanis. As an active member of the community, he was past President of the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, the Winnebago County Fair Association Board of Directors, Sawdust Days Board Member, and active with Rawhide Boys Ranch for many years.
      Leo was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church, Third Order of Saint Francis and an honorary member and Past Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Concerned with feeding the hungry, he helped Father Carr and had been on the Board of Directors of Second Harvest. He was a member of the Elks Club and Pickett Steam Engine Club.
      He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Muriel; one son Dennis (Linda) Metzler, Oshkosh; four daughters: Diana (Tom) Hanseder, Winneconne; Kaye (Mike) Solomon, Oshkosh; Kathleen (Wayne) Daniels, Oshkosh; Marilyn (Fred) Sammons, Menomonee Falls; fourteen grandchildren: Lori (Warren) Cook; Jeff (Jeanne) Schlichting; Chad (Jennifer) Mettier, Washington D.C; Marc Metzler, Paris, France; Andrew Solomon, Madison; David, Leah and Joseph Solomon; Cheryl (Brian) Daniels-Fisk, Green Bay; Carla Daniels, Wauwatosa; Jaynie, Aryn, Kyal and Dayna Sammons, Menomonee Falls, and four great grandchildren: Spencer Peake, Stephanie and Brittany Eiken, Kansas City, Mo.; Benjamin Schlichting, Oshkosh; one sister: Marian (Bill) Wallschlaeger, Green Bay; one half sister: Sharon (Arnold) Malvitz, Green Bay; two half brothers: Milton(Shirley) Metzler, Casco; Earl (Carol) Metzler, Okemos, Mi.
      Visitation will be at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. on Wednesday October 9, 2002 from 3 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St Josaphat Catholic Church, 1333 Walnut St. at 10 a.m. on Thursday, preceded by visitation at 9 a.m. with Rev. Robert Stegeman and Rev. Martin Carr officiating. Entombment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park.
      You will be greatly missed by your family, friends, and coffee drinking buddies and your faithful dog, Star.
