      Kortz, Rosella M. (Rosie)


      Rosella M. (Rosie) Kortz, age 88, of the Wisconsin Veterans Home, formerly of Freedom, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at the veterans home. Rosie was born in the Town of Kaukauna on September 28, 1921, the daughter of the late John and Dora (Verhasselt) Green. On October 4, 1941, Rosie married Orin T. Kortz in Freedom and he preceded her in death on September 11, 1999. She worked on the farm for many years. Later she was employed at Golden Yolk until it closed and then at Monte Alverno Retreat Center. Rosie enjoyed being with her family and friends, ceramic painting, playing sheephead and going to Holy Grotto in Rudolph and other places with her son, Terry.

      Rosie is survived by her children: Dorothy (Jerry) Haberland, Appleton; Janice (Bill) Farrell, Kaukauna; Jack Kortz, Wakefield, MI; Paul Kortz, Kaukauna; Gary (Theresa) Kortz, Kaukauna; Terry Kortz, Little Chute; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her sisters: Frances Moudry; Verna Berkens; Eleanor (Bud) Bowers; sister-in-law, Germaine Green and brother-in-law, Jim VanVreede.

      Rosie was also preceded in death by three sisters: Florence Schmidt, Charlotte Green, Esther VanVreede and five brothers and sisters in law: Norbert (Harriet) Green, Bill (Lorraine) Green, Vincent (Elaine) Green, Bob (Beady) Green, John Green Jr, and brothers in law, Leo Schmidt, Gerald Berkens, Leo Weiland and Harry Moudry.

      Funeral Mass will be on Monday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at Wisconsin Veterans Home-Main Chapel. Burial will be in the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of mass at the Main Chapel.

      The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Stordock Hall-3rd floor & Sister Cathy for the care and kindness given to our Mother.
