- Gerald F. Bushmaker, 89, of Wisconsin Rapids, found peace Thursday January 12, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care surrounded by his loving family.
Gerald was born October 30, 1927 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to the late Frank and Cecelia (Meulemans) Bushmaker. On June 22, 1948, he was united in marriage to Sylvia B. Tomczyk at Holy Rosary Church in Sigel, WI.
Employed by Consolidated Papers as a journeyman pipefitter for more than 42 years, Gerald was also a dedicated dairy farmer for 22 years and participated as a Tree Farm member.
As a Navy service member (1944-1946) Gerald served aboard the USS Olmstead APA188 Troop Ship and the USS Report AM289 Mine Sweeper. On October 17, 2011, Gerald participated in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight to visit the WWII Memorial in Washington DC with his brother, Marvin Bushmaker.
Gerald was an active member of the community. He was named the first Rudolph Village President in April of 1961, served on Rudolph Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Rudolph American Legion Post 485.
Gerald was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, loved family gatherings many of which included games of sheepshead, cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed traveling for family visits. Gerald was an avid Brewers fan and a skilled Price is Right viewer. He was a cheerful, hardworking man who led by example. His family will never forget his kindness, loving ways and endless generosity.
Funeral services for Gerald will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday January 20, 2017 at St. Philip Catholic Church in Rudolph, Wisconsin. Deacon Jerry Ruesch will officiate the service. The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM 12:00 Noon. Burial will take place at Holy Rosary Parish Cemetery in the Town of Sigel.
