Thomas A. Grignon, age 83, of Neopit, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at the Shawano Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Neopit, the son of the late John and Clara (Richmond) Grignon.
He was married on Feb. 12, 1938, at St. John's Catholic Church, Antigo, to Beatrice M. "Betty' Pettengill. She preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 1999.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Neopit. He served on the Tribal Council and the Menominee County Board of Supervisors and was a member of the American Legion. Tom served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was a retired employee of the Menominee Tribal Enterprise. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, hunting, and was an avid reader and enjoyed his two cats, Bandit and Rosie.
He is survived by: two daughters, Nikki (Peter) Knope, Shawano, Paula (fiance, Pat LaRock) Grignon, Neopit; one son, Steve (Sandy) Grignon, Neenah; 12 grandchildren, Steve Jr. and David Grignon, Yvonne (Kevin) Grissman, Steve and Lori Dumke, Michael (Sherry) Vigue, Paul Vigue, Chris (Jessica) Vigue, Brooke, Brent, Brad and Bryan Reiter; six great-grandchildren, Alicia, Barry, Cody, Kyle, Niosha, Paige.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Kenote and Helen Sackatook.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec. 24, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Neopit, with the Rev. David Kiefer officiating. Spring burial will be at the Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Antigo. Military rites will be performed at the church by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation and the Menominee American Legion Post #497.
