    • Louis Leo Petit, age 72 of rural Neshkoro, passed away suddenly Monday evening, December 5, 2011 at his home in the Town of Marion. He was born February 5, 1939 in Sugarbush, Wisconsin, a son of Leo and Christina (Heid) Petit. He married Nancy R. Jones on October 22, 1983 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redgranite. Nancy, his wife of 28 years survives.

      Louis was raised in New London. He settled in the Berlin area, and had lived in Lohrville prior to moving to the Town of Marion, rural Neshkoro 12 years ago. He had farmed for a time. Louis was employed as a carman for the Canadian National Railroad, Wisconsin Central Division in North Fond du Lac for 15 years until his retirement 2 years ago.

      Louis enjoyed hunting, cutting trees, splitting wood, shooting varmints, feeding the foxes and turkeys, and watching wildlife from his deck. He enjoyed telling outlandish stories. He was a spinner of tall tales. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids.

      Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his sons, Jonathan (JoAnn) Bartel of Catonsville, Maryland, and their children, Jensen, Jessica, and James; and Nathan (Megan) Bartel of Oshkosh; his daughters, Angela (Brian) Ramirez of Oshkosh, and their children, Logan and Desiree; and RoxAnn (David) Grube of Appleton, and their children, Ethan and Kendelle. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Robert (Donna) Petit, Leroy (Joyce) Petit, and Bernadette Briski, all of Berlin, Joyce (Ray) Krueger of Redgranite, and Charles (Linda) Petit of Pine River. Louis is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives, and many friends.

      He was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Mullen, his parents, Leo and Christina Petit, his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Carol Petit, a sister, Diane Gustke, and a brother-in-law, George Briski.

      FUNERAL SERVICES for Louis L. Petit will be held Sunday, December 11th, at 5:00 P.M. at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite. FRIENDS MAY CALL at the funeral home from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday Only prior to the time of Services. Following cremation, Inurnment will be in private.

      Memorials in Louis' memory will be appreciated in place of flowers.
