    • Man Missing 2 Days Found in U.S. Canal
The body of Leonard Bevers, 72, Little Chute, who disappeared Tuesday evening from the home of his daughter Mrs. John M. Jansen with whom he had been making his home, was found in the Government Canal at Little Chute at 9 o'clock Friday morning by his son Adrian who was a member of the searching party headed by Marshall James Gerritts.
An inquest was conducted at 9:30 Friday morning by Stanley Staidl, District attourney, who stated that death was due to accidental drowning.
The aged man left the home of his daughter early Tuesday evening on one of his usual evening walks, and not much attention was paid when he failed to arrive later. He was in the habit of making occasional trips to the Albert Van Duinhoven farm, about a mile and a half north of Little Chute to spend the night.
Mrs. Jansen became alarmed late Wednesday afternoon when he failed to arrive and phoned the Van Duinhoven home to learn that Mr. Bevers had not been there the previous night.
A searching party was immediately organized by Marshal Gerritts. Twelve boates patrolled the river banks near Little Chute Thursday, while others dragged the river. The body was brought to the survace in the canal by Adrian Bevers at 9 o'clock Friday morning.
It is believed the aged man lost his blaance while walking along the side of the canal and fell into the water.
Survivors are five sons; Anton, Menasha; William, Neenah; Peter, Adrian and John, Little Chute; one daughter, Mrs. John M. Jansen, Little Chute.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning from St. John church with the Rev. John J. Sprangers in charge. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
