    • Appleton - John R. Schumacher "Jack", age 83, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 13, 2019 surrounded by family, after an extended battle with Parkinson Disease. John was born on August 11, 1936 in the Town of Vandenbroek to the late John P. and Hattie (Williamson) Schumacher. The eleventh of twelve children, he grew up on the family farm. John graduated from St. John Catholic High School in 1954, after which he served in the Army in Europe as a missile technician. On November 22, 1962, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Haag at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple enjoyed 57 years together. John worked for Wisconsin Bell for 35 years, retiring on December 31, 1994. He was a longtime faithful member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He cherished time spent with his family, handyman projects and gardening. He was fairly active until his illness limited his ability; he always loved playing softball at Schumacher family reunions.
