James Dewey, known by his family and friends as Jim or Dewey, was an extremely kind, gracious and joyful person who lived a life of significant accomplishment in the impact he had on all who were part of his life. Jim's intelligence, wisdom and capacity for being present with all who were graced to know him defined his relationships.

Jim was born on March 2, 1948. He grew up and lived his life in Appleton, WI. He attended Xavier High School in Appleton and went on to graduate from St. John's University in MN. Jim met Eunice Stelmacher who he married in 1979. They were graced with 32 years of marriage. Eunice was the center of Jim's universe. Their lives together were joyful and always outward focused. Jim dedicated his time and energy to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) as a mentor and advocate for those struggling with chronic mental illness.

Jim's time with close friends and family were what he valued most. He loved to gather with family and friends and was always graciously willing to speak up to offer a prayer or expression of gratitude at family gatherings. He was blessed with close friends who embraced him and always stayed close. It was always a joy to spend time with Jim or, as his nephews and nieces called him, Uncle Dewey.

Jim will always be remembered for the twinkle in his eyes, his always present sense of humor, his positive attitude and his love of family and friends. We are all better for having the grace and privilege of sharing in the life of James Dewey Zwicker.
