    • Frances M. Kane, 90, Appleton, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011. She was born on March 11, 1921, in De Pere, to the late Gerard and Marie (Puimbroeck) Zegers. Fran graduated from East De Pere High School and later cosmetology school. On August 29, 1945, she married Edmund Kane in De Pere. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2004.

Fran was a traditional homemaker who embraced sewing, baking and cooking for her family. She enjoyed many years of golfing with Eddie and in later years they extended their golf season by wintering in Texas. She was one of the original mall walkers at the Fox River Mall, where she met many wonderful friends. Fran and her family moved often, and she very quickly made many friends in each new community. Fran loved and adored her grandchildren, who never left her house without a "goodie-bag". She will remembered by all for her cheerful and optimistic spirit.
