- Albert J. Blink, of this sketch, was married 26 Oct 1892, to Alice Donnelly, who was born in Dubuque, IA, 13 Dec 1871; she is the daughter of Nicholas Donnelly, who was born in Ireland, 05 Dec 1833, and who came to
Freeport, IL, when a mere boy. He has resided in Iowa about forty-five years, being a resident of Story Co., having lived to see its growth from a wild prairie. He married Anna Kieley, who was born in Ireland, 21 Jun 1837, and who came to America when twelve years of age. They were married near Freeport, IL, 12 Jun 1858, and ten children were born to them. namely: Christopher, born 01 Apr 1859, died 18 Jun 1865;
With the aid of his older children, Mr. Blink conducts his farm of two hundred & forty acres in Eden Twp. He has improved this place until it ranks second to none in the community and he has been very successful as a general
farmer and stock raiser. His beautiful and newly remodeled home has every modern convenience, hot and cold water, bath room and three-room basement, with gas light and furnace heat. Mr. Blink has managed well and has laid by a competency. He has grown up with the locality and can remember when there was no fence between his place and the boundary line between Hamilton and Story counties. He
& his wife have witnessed the transformation of this country from a trackless prairie to its present opulent condition. They have worked hard and are deserving of the large success that has attended their efforts. They and their children are members of the Catholic church at Rhodes.
Fraternally, Mr. Blink is a member of Camp No. 2760, Modern Woodmen of America, at Rhodes, and the Knights of Columbus at Marshalltown. He takes much interest in public affairs and has served as road supervisor, constable and school
director, filling all these of?ces with credit to himself and to the satisfaction of all concerned. He and his family are popular and highly respected throughout this locality.
