    • Grandpa Jerry was born on May 9th, 1926 in Kaukauna. He had 2 sisters and 3 brothers. As a young boy, and spent much of his time playing at Thousand islands. When he was 16 years old, he got a job at Thilmany Paper Mill.
At 18, he joined the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Oregon were he loaded ammuniation on ships. A few years later, he got sent to Japan to help fight World War II. Luckily, on his way to Japan the war just finished. He was stationd in Japan for a year to help rebuild Japan.
When it came time to leave Japan, he could have rode back in a cargo carrier or wait one week for a ship. He took the cargo carrier to get home quicker and the guys that waited for the Navy ship arrived three weeks earlier then my Grandpa. When he got home, he married Dolores DeKoch July 1st 1948 at St. John's in Little Chute. They lived in Kaukauna and raised four boys Tom, Jeff, Scott, Dave.
Grandpa loved to play softball and was a good pitcher. He always kept his baseball glove in his car in case anyone needed another player. He also enjoyed the game of golf and achieved 3 hole-in-ones. Grandpa had many good times at his cottage he built on Crane Lake, where he loved to fish and play cards like cribbage. He was also known for working in his garage on many wood working projects building cabinets, bird houses, planters, cribbage boards, or anything anyone he knew needed build or fixed. Lastly, he always watched western shows like Gunsmoke, and his favorite Texas Ranger. He died on July 5th 2006.
