    • Lucille E. Pietz, 79, Township of Deer Creek, Outagamie County, passed away on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at the Lakeview Specialty Hospital, Waterford, Wis.

      Lucille was born on March 13, 1932, in the Township of Maple Creek, Outagamie County, the daughter of the late John and Mable (Burton) Stilen. She later worked for her grade school teacher for nine months. In 1948, Lucille was hired at Theda Clark Hospital, Neenah, and trained as a nurse's aid, working for fifteen years. While at Theda Clark, Lucille worked at the polio mylitis unit during the years that polio ran rampant. She put herself in jeopardy while working in isolation when others refused.

      On Aug. 29, 1953, at 2 p.m. on a nice sunny day, Lucille was united in marriage to Norman Pietz at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco. Lucille continued to work in the polio ward until 1964 when the couple began farming in the Town of Deer Creek until retirement in 1998.

      Norman preceded his wife in death on March 6, 2010. Lucille was a member of the St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville where she belonged to the Ladies Aid and was a member of the Bear Creek Lions Club. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, traveling, dancing and collecting pretty things.

      Survivors include sisters, Vaiden Peeters, Bear Creek; Jeanette McGlone, Shiocton; Marie Gluth, Clintonville;

      brother, Joseph (Marcille) Stilen, Shiocton; sisters-in-law, Alice (Duaine) Bartel, Ogdensburg; and Margaret Pietz, Clintonville; numerous nieces and nephews

      She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman; three sisters, Lillian McGlone, Marjorie Peeters and Isla Flink-Suprise; four brothers, Gordon, Merlin, Ira and Virgil Stilen; and special nieces who were flower girls in their wedding, Judy Drath and Deborah Flink .

      Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at the St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville with the Rev. Daniel Burns and the Rev. Vilas Mazemke

      officiating. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville.

      Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the time of the service. An online guest book may be signed at www.eberhardtstevenson.com
