    • Lorraine Parker, Appleton, a loving mother and grandmother, was called to her heavenly home on Friday morning, August 5, 2011, with her family at her side. She was 77. Lorraine was born in the town of Caledonia on December 3, 1933, daughter of the late Earl and Myrtle (Drews) Otto. On October 5, 1957, she married John Parker. The couple enjoyed 45 wonderful years together.

Lorraine was a lifelong Appleton resident and a faithful member of Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church where she at one time served on the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, reading, and spending time with her family. Lorraine never missed an opportunity to chat with family and friends. Many will also recall her many years of dedicated service as an employee at AAL / Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Lorraine leaves behind three loving children, Patti (Mike) Van Fossen, Appleton; her son, Chris Parker, Appleton, and his special friend, Kathy Hietpas; and Sue (Joe) Van Rooy, Appleton; six grandchildren, Amy (Ben) Ritchie, Tyler Van Fossen and special friend, Kelsi, Ashley (Nick) Boldt, Michael Parker, Alex Van Rooy, and Ryan Van Rooy; three great-grandchildren, Brady and Maverick Boldt and Kiana Parker; a twin sister, Loretta Jaeckels, Stone Mountain, Ga.; a brother, Vern (Dorothy) Otto, Surprise, Ariz. a sister-in-law, Ann Parker, Appleton; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 2003; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The Christian Funeral for Lorraine will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 East Florida Avenue in Appleton, with the Rev. Joel Zank officiating. Visitation will be held at the Wichmann Funeral Home in Appleton on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Tuesday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Theda Clark Medical Center for all of their understanding these past two weeks. You took care of our mother as if she was your very own, and we will always remember your kindness.

To our wonderful mom and grandma, Not a day will go by that we won't think about you and sadly miss you. We hope that both you and dad are now smiling down on us, knowing we will all be okay, because of everything you have taught us and done for us. You were there for us in good times and in bad. You spent your life worrying about us, even when we were all grown up. Your grandchildren and great-grandchildren were your pride and joy - they loved you as much as you loved them. We have lots of great memories to cherish and our lives will never be the same without you. But we know that you are at peace, and that will get us through. Thank you for all of the love you have given to each of us and for being such a special mom and grandma. You will be with us in our hearts forever. We love you.
