Schneidewend, Philip W.
Philip W. Schneidewend, age 86 of Gillett, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife, Irene, at his side on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Philip was born on May 29, 1923, in Bear Creek to the late Paul and Ella (Drath) Schneidewend. On May 7, 1949, he was united in marriage to Irene VanHandel in Freedom. Together the couple lived in Greenville until Philips's retirement from Kimberly-Clark where he had worked as a machinist for 36 years. They then moved to their home on Lake Warrington in Oconto County. Philip was a member of the St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil for 23 years.
Philip is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene; six daughters: Linda (fiance, Anthony Spinnato) Hoffman, Hortonville; Carla (Dan) Cady, Libby, MT; Marianne (Richard) Smith, Hortonville; Marlene Visocky, Hortonville; Donna (Steve) Dorton, Cecil; Lisa (Dwayne) Buss, Menasha; three sons: Harlan (Lucy) Schneidewend, Neenah; Larry (Leone) Schneidewend, Shawano; Donald (special friend, Lois) Schneidewend, Hortonville; 23 grandchildren: Robert (Tina), Janet (fiance, Jim Jirikowic), Jeremy, and Christopher Hoffman, Teresa (Ben) Klin, Tina (Mike) Collier, Tammy (Don) Skramousky, Dean (Elva), Mike, Aubrey, Charity and Maria Schneidewend, Ricky Shannon, Milissa Schneidewend, Jesse (Becky) Lederhaus, Jennifer (Dan) Schuelke, Travis, Chad (fiance, Sonya Paalman) and Mindy Visocky, Tasha and William Schneidewend, Bridget and Jamie Buss; two step grandchildren: Trinity Hecek and Ricky Clark; and 17 great-grandchildren. Philip is further survived by six brothers: Erick, Morbe (Francis), Paul (Ann), Leo (special friend, Pat), Leland (Florence) and Art (Caroline) Schneidewend; and two sisters: Lila (Bob) Knack and Gladys Reinke.
Philip was preceded in death by a daughter, Dora Schneidewend-Hobbs; son-in-law Paul Visocky; his parents; two sisters: Verna Beyer and Violet Schneidewend; two brothers: Clarence and Lloyd Schneidewend; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009, at the St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil with the Deacon Tom Craig officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Stevensville. Family and friends may call at the Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday after 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
