      DONNA, Texas – Robert C. Joosten, 87, of Donna and formerly of Woodstock, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011.

      He was born on May 6, 1934, in Rudolph, Wis., to Chris and Elizabeth Hartjes Joosten. He married Helen Meyer on June 29, 1968.

      He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the USS New Jersey. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Woodstock, in 1987.

      He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Helen; his children, Sandra Joosten, Robert L. (Carolyn) Joosten, Jacqueline (David) Hagberg, Diane (Brian) Simek, Tim (Debbie) Joosten and Philip Joosten; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; his brothers, James and John; and his sisters, Alma Hilt, Delma Bertram, Joyce Venchunas and Judy Lasley.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Cordula; his brothers, Sylvester and Norman; his sisters, Anita Sternot and Marion Weiss; and a daughter, Jolinda Wall.
