    • Leo M. Fuerst, age 83, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Friday, October 5, 2012. He was born on October 23, 1928, in Appleton. Leo served our country from 1947-1949, in the Navy and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. He married Charlene Sigl on April 22, 1950 at Sacred Heart Church in Appleton. Leo enjoyed gardening and all animals, especially his pets.

      Leo is survived by five children: Leon (Mary) of Little Chute, Tricia of Little Chute, Leo (Linda) of Freedom, Marie of Black Creek, and Mark of DePere; four grandchildren: Chad Van Handel, and Jennifer, Kyle, Michael Fuerst; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene in 2011, and several brothers and sisters.

      On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, there will be a time of gathering from 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 North Superior Street. Entombment will be private at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
