Patrick D. Van Alstine
Age 40, of Hortonville, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at his residence; after a five-year struggle with Lou Gehrigs Disease. Pat was born on July 5, 1967 in New London, son of David "Pete" and Joan (Ulman) Van Alstine. He was a 1986 graduate from New London High School. In 1991 he graduated from UW Oshkosh with a degree in Education. On November 9, 1991 he was united in marriage to Kelly Murphy in Hortonville. Pat received his master's degree from St. Mary's University in Minneapolis. He taught at Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids and Prescott High School. He then became assistant Principal at New London and was principal at Shiocton until health issues forced his retirement in 2006. Pat was a wonderful husband and father and will be greatly missed by everyone.
He is survived by his wife Kelly; three daughters: Hannah, Madeline, and Emma at home; parents, David "Pete" and Jan Van Alstine, New London; father-in-law and mother-in-law Mike (Mary Lou) Murphy, Hortonville; two brothers, Joseph (Lori) Van Alstine, New London; Jim Miller, New London; two sisters, Kathryn (David) Derfus, Neenah; Chris (Jeff) Charlson, Madison; Sisters-in-law: Paula Murphy, Chris (Terry) DuFrane, Patty (John) Martins, Micki (Darin) Dodd, all of Hortonville. Pat is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother Joan, his paternal grandparents, Albert and Mary Van Alstine and maternal grandparents, Servatius and Regina Ulman.
Funeral Mass for Pat will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville with Rev. James Feely officiating. Burial will be in the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Hortonville. Visitation will be at the SS Peter and Paul Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established.
