- Huisman, Richard G. Appleton
Age 80, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Sunday, December 5, 2004. He was born in Little Chute on May 24, 1924, son of the late Nicholas and Ann (Kroes) Huisman. Rich was proud to serve in the Merchant Marine during World War II and served in the Pacific. On December 7, 1946, he married Vivian Schmidt at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Appleton. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together. Rich served as a City Alderman in Appleton in the sixties. Rich enjoyed spending time with Vivian, including square dancing. He also enjoyed sports, especially watching boxing and the Packers.
Rich is survived by his wife, Vivian; his son, Richard H. (Clarice) Huisman of Townsend; grandchildren: Jeffrey Huisman of Appleton and Steven Huisman of Delavan; sisters: Pauline (Ken) Niesen of Kaukauna, Lory Maley of Little Chute and Melda (Richard) Johnson of Green Bay. He is further survived by nieces and nephews.
Rich is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Al, Nicholas and Clarence; five sisters: Marion, La Verne, Angie, Margaret and Theresa.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton, with Rev. Benjamin Berger officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
The family extends a very special thank you to the Appleton V.A. for their special care. Further, a special thank you to the staff at Vallhaven Nursing Home and at Appleton Medical Center for their outstanding care.
