Althea M. Post-Griedl-Acord, (nee Parker), Appleton, age 92, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Appleton Medical Center following a brief illness. Altha was born February 28, 1913 in Stockbridge, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Herbert and Anna (Schomisch) Parker. She has resided in Appleton for most of her life and was a graduate of Appleton High School. Altha was formerly employed at the Tastee Bakery and then at the downtown five and dime store. She later joined her son Frank in operating the Kurv Inn in the Town of Menasha until her retirement in 1977. Altha was united in marriage to Franklin Post, he preceded her in death in 1964. She later married John Griedl, he died in 1977 and she then married Donald Acord, he preceded her in death in 2004. She was a long time member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Altha will be remembered as the guiding light of her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were the most important things in her life. She took an interest in all their activities and never missed sending a birthday or anniversary card. Altha was an avid reader and passed this gift on to her family. Holidays were always special and having her family all together was her greatest joy.

Altha will be deeply missed by her children: Nancie Van Heertum of Shawano, Mary Beth Laux and friend Al Riojas of Appleton, and Franklin (Carol) Post of Appleton, a sister Angela (Jack) Feavel of Neenah, 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Doris Parker of Appleton, the John Griedl Family, the Donald Acord Family, and a special friend Clairine.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Altha was preceded in death by a son and daughter in law, James (Delores) Post; two grandsons, Allen Post and Michael Kobussen; three brothers, Roland, Leo, and Jack Parker and a son-in-law Mark Laux.

The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, June 20th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., with Fr. Michael O'Rourke officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the service. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
