      Donald, age 80, passed away Friday, January 09, 2004 at Manor Care Home in Appleton. He was born January 6, 1924 in Appleton, son of the late Lester and Lyda (Ellefson) Acord. He married Lila Schultz in 1947 sharing 29 years together before her death in 1976. He married Altha Post January 6, 1978, sharing 26 years together. He was employed by Fort James for 38 years and retired in 1985. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Appleton. Donald was a loving dedicated husband and father and sometimes worked 3 jobs during his early years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed church dart ball leagues and fishing. While in the Army during World War II he served in England, Germany, France and Belgium.

      Survivors include his wife Altha, Appleton two sons and a daughter-in-law: Robert and Linda Acord, Neenah Richard Acord, Appleton two daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Wes Schroeder, Appleton Mary Jo and Jim Collar, Appleton a step-son and daughter-in-law: Franklin and Carol Post, Appleton two step-daughters: Nancie Van Heertum, FL Mary Beth Laux, Appleton two sisters: Jean Klein, IL Lois Persson, IL a brother Robert Acord, Crivitz a brother-in-law: Jim Van Weddingen, Appleton. 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren 22 step grandchildren 41 step great grandchildren and 7 step great great grandchildren.

      Preceding Donald in death are his first wife Lila, a two year old sister, a sister, Joyce Van Weddingen; a great grandson, Dylan Mendez stepson and step daughter-in-law, James and Delores Post; a step son-in-law, Mark Laux; two brothers-in-law, Ed Klein and Paul Persson.
      Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 2 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, Rev. Michael O'Rourke officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.
