He began in 1947, with the Marinette Paper Co. in Fort Edward, N.Y. After 10 years, he moved on to Scott Paper in Thomson, N.Y. He later moved to the Ticonderoga area where he spent the remainder of his career working for International Paper Co. He retired in 1983, as a member of the Quarter-Century Club.

He was active in the Knights of Columbus Council 194 of Schuylerville where he rose to the rank of Grand Knight, later becoming a member of Glens Falls 4th Degree Council and eventually, in 1960, joining the Ticonderoga Knights of Columbus Council.
