    • Roy Henry Bastian, age 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.

      He was born May 21, 1921 in the Town of Brillion, WI to George and Caroline Schmidt Bastian. He was married to the former June Luebke on December 23, 1952 in Appleton, WI. Survivors include his wife June and daughters Glenna (Tom Lach) Bastian, Marinette; Paula Bastian, Brillion; Carol (Paul) Graves, Oshkosh; and son Douglas (Anita) Bastian, Savage, MN; grandchildren Sarah and Andrew Braun, Erich and Rachel Graves and Dayna and Adam Bastian, mother-in-law Verona Luebke, sister-in-law Lois Herrmann and a brother-in-law Robert Golden. Also adopted family Mark, Carole, Nathan and Erin Rajkovitch; many nieces and nephews.

      Roy farmed in the Town of Brillion all of his life. During his lifetime, Roy was also an officer for the Brillion Co-op, a member of the Brillion Historical Society, Calumet County ASC Community Committee vice-chairman, Town of Brillion Supervisor, Town of Brillion Town Chairman, and on the School Grove Dairy Board. Roy was active in his church, serving as a Trustee, on various committees as well as participating in the Methodist Men's Brotherhood for many years.

      Roy liked to play card games, dartball, bowl, and go to musicals and plays. But the most important aspect of his life was his family. He was an integral part of his children's and grandchildren's lives.

      Pre-deceasing him were his parents; sisters and brother-in laws Irene and Wesley Schmidt, Mabel and Elmer Kruschke, Fern and Clarence Bernhardt, Erna and Warren Luedtke; father-in-law Erich Luebke; sister-in-law Jean Golden; and brother-in-law Robert Herrmann.

      Visitation will be held at the Wieting Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 23 from 3-6 p.m.; with viewing at Zion United Methodist Church in Forest Jct. on Monday, Sept. 24 from 9-11 a.m. and the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
