    • Joan Marie Green Radtke, age 88, of Appleton, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home on Friday, March 29, 2013. Joan was born in Appleton on May 8, 1924, to the late Charles and Amanda (Knuppel) Green. After graduating high school, she earned a B.S. at Lawrence University graduating in 1945. On November 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Paul A. Radtke at St. Therese Catholic Church, Appleton. The couple enjoyed 52 years together and owned and operated Badger State Chickery until Paul's death in 1998. Joan also worked for a short time at Kimberly Clark in the sales and research department. She was an active member at St. Therese Catholic Church for many years where she belonged to the Ladies of St. Therese. Joan was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, Past President of Christ Child Society, Kings Daughters, Pi Beta Phi at Lawrence University, Pi Phi Alumnae Club, and AAUW. Joan enjoyed volunteering with RSVP, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army where she served and delivered meals, and tutored children in reading with the Appleton School System. She was an avid Cubs and Packers fan and loved watching and feeding birds, gardening, going to concerts, plays, and playing cards - especially Bridge and Cribbage.

      She is survived by two sons: Michael Radtke, Glidden, WI, and his children Nicholas (Rachel) Radtke and Laura Radtke; Mark (Kay) Radtke, Appleton and their children Chris (Kate) Radtke and Katy Radtke; 4 daughters: Patricia (Bill) Mitchell, Burnsville, MN and their children Sarah (Chris) Kuehl, Angela (Brian) Sheposh, Jessica (Sam) Groeller, Joe (Heather) Mitchell, Christina (Paul) Lamers, and Andrew Mitchell; Lisa (partner Catherine Tryon) Radtke, Dakota, MN, Heidi (R. Craig) Oliver, Minneapolis and their daughters Michelle and Kristen Oliver; and Amy (William) O'Connor, Whitefish Bay and their children Billy, Jack, and Darby O'Connor; 20 great grandchildren: Monica, Patrick, Lauren, Juliana, Kyle, William, Adalyn, Emilia, Landon, Aidan, Alison, Jack, Sophia, Audrey, Isabella, Ariana, Olivia, Emma, Alana, and Lydia; and sister in law, Patricia Green, Appleton. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

      She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, parents, 2 brothers: Charles O. Green and Peter Green, and sister, Beulah Flanagan.

      A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, April 5, at St. Therese Catholic Church, corner of Wisconsin Ave. and Morrison St., with Father William Hoffman officiating. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds for St. Therese, ACES Xavier, and Lawrence University have been established.
