- Russell E. Collar, "Chink", 83, Shiocton, died on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, with his family by his side. Russell was born on Feb. 17, 1927, in Hortonville, son of the late Lucius and Esther (Thompson) Collar. On April 9, 1953, he was united in marriage to Rojene Bricko.
Russell served in the military during the occupation of Japan, as a Screaming Eagle. He worked at Kimberly Paper Mill for 40 years, retiring in 1992. Russell loved to hunt, fish, watch sports (especially the Packers and Brewers), play Bingo and spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Russell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rojene; his children, Grant and Lynn (Dey), Bradley and Lisa (Degroot), Larry and Jody (Evers), Jon and Tracy (Jacobson) and her son, Andrew; a brother, Junior; a sister, Hazel; grandchildren, Scott, Ashley, Adam, Craig, Alissa and Mitchell. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Betty; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charlie, Gene, Herman, Jerry, Gordon and John; and in-laws, Marshall and Luella Bricko.
Funeral service for Russell will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at 7 p.m. at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Shiocton. Private family burial will be in the St. Denis Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on 5th floor East Pavilion at Appleton Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
