      Elmer [Al] Van Laanen 67, 1330 Cherry St. died this morning in a local hospital after a short illness. Born April 28, 1902 in the Town of Scott, he lived in the Green Bay area all of his life. He was married to the former Helen Daniels at the Cathedral in 1925. Mr. Van Laanen was employed by the Northern Building for 11 years and for the past 16 years at the Press Gazette.

      Survivors include his wife Helen; one son, Gordon, Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren; three brothers, Walter, Norman and Lawrence; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Brienen, Mrs. Hilda Wallenfang, all of Green Bay.

      At Schauer and Schumacher East Side Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Rosary 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Funeral 11 a.m. Friday, from Cathedral. Msgr. Orville Griese officiating. Burial in Allouez Cemetery.
