      Age 70, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at his residence. He was born May 15, 1909 in Little Chute. He had been employed at Badger Northland until his retirement in 1974. Mr. Van Gompel was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Florence Arnoldussen Van Gompel; a son, Willard Jr., Appleton; a brother, Elmer, Alabama; seven sisters: Mrs. Katherine Johnson, Egg Harbor; Mrs. Marie Powless and Mrs. Clarence (Clara) Thurber, both of Little Chute; Mrs. Clarence (Theresa) Dietzen, Leone Van Gompel, Mrs. Marvin (Germaine) Smith, Mrs. Harold (Helen) Heckel, all of Appleton; three granddaughters: Julie, Jenny and Katy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Omer. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 4 until 9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday until the cortege leaves for the church. There will be a prayer and scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
