    • Johannes donated the large bell in St. John's bell tower. It was rung for the first time at his funeral in 1870.

      Biography by Austin Fritsch, 2010
      Johannes Verstegen was born on March 19, 1819 in the Netherlands.
      He came and settled in the Village of Little Chute. Johannes came with the
      intent to build and operate a farm.
      Johannes was married on November 4, 1851 to Ardina VenHaendel.
      They did not have any children together. He passed away on October 30,
      1870. Johannes donated the large bell in 81. John's bell tower. It was rung
      for the first time at his funeral.
