    • Marie A. Charles, 89, Luxemburg, was welcomed into heaven on Friday evening, October 14, 2016, surrounded by her family. Marie was born in Luxemburg on May 19, 1927, to the late Frank and Philomine (Vaness) Hermans. Marie married Richard J. Charles at St. Martin Catholic Church in Tonet on December 26, 1945.

      Marie was a life-long resident of Luxemburg and a member of the Christian Mother Society at St. Mary Catholic Church in Luxemburg. Marie enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing cards, gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

      Her sense of humor provides cherished memories for those she holds dear. Her cooking and baking made all feel welcome in her home.

      She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Richard and their six children: Shirley (Jim) Kowaleski, Mishicot; Lyle (Mary) Charles, Pewaukee; Len (Judy) Charles, Madison; Rick (Christine) Charles, Dyckesville; Terry (Don) DeBroux, Elm Grove; and Bruce Charles, Luxemburg; 14 grandchildren, Craig (Kay) Kowaleski, Curt (Lori) Kowaleski, Paula (John) Billos, Adam (Cindy) Charles, Nathan (Jenn) Charles, Jeremy (special friend Crystal) Charles, Jesse (Erin) Charles, Jennifer (Neal) Englebert, Michelle (special friend Eric) Charles, Tina (Todd) Erieau, Ryan (Crystal) DeBroux, Renee (Jeremy) Zimmermann, Kristin (Ryan) Kuharske, and Michael (fiancée, Amber) DeBroux.

      24 great grandchildren: Kelsey (Kyle) Van Pay, Cassandra, Zachary and Allyson Kowaleski; Elena and Michael Billos, Wyatt Charles, Maya and Owen Charles, Duncan and Annabelle Charles, Jurnie and Jasper Englebert, Ariauna Pienta and Jakobi White, Logan and Wyatt Erieau, Marshall, Blake and Chase DeBroux, Cruz and Waverly Zimmermann and Evelyn and Olivia Marie Kuharske. She is also survived by her sister Veronica (Ted) Ploof, Luxemburg; brother and sisters-in-law Ethel Hermans, New Franken; Janet Hermans, Eaton; James and Muriel Charles, Green Bay.

      Preceding her in death are her parents, Frank and Philomine Hermans; father in law and mother-in-law Joseph and Mary Charles; brothers, Linus, Orville and Hubert Hermans; sister Lucy Rueckl; brothers and sisters-in-law: Norbert Rueckl; Beatrice Hermans; Randall and Marie Charles; Walter and Margaret Charles; Wilfred Charles; Wallace and Geraldine Charles; Irene and Melvin Campbell; Willard and Betty Charles; John and Mabel Charles; Mamie and Louis LaCrosse, Clarence and Doris Charles; Leona Charles; Joe and Gertrude Charles; Mabel and Bill Jandrain; Mary Jane and Wilbert Borley; and Lorraine and Joseph Borley. Friends may call at the McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 17, 2016 with a closing prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:45 am on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
