  • Notes
    • Walter H. Hannemann, of Wausau, died Feb 20, 2011, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born Nov 30, 1919, in the town of Wien, son of the late William and Susan (Weber) Hannemann. On June 18, 1946, he married Arlene Hall at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.
Walter and his wife, Arlene, were dairy farmers in the Edgar area prior to their retirement. Through the years, Walter enjoyed many different activities including music, traveling, reading, woodworking, playing dartball and polka dances. He mentored for the Attic Correctional Services and Juvenile Shelter Home, and he was a project leader for the Wien Wildcats 4-H Club. He was a 75-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and was involved at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau, and St. John Catholic Church, Edgar, as a eucharistic minister and usher.
Selling farm equipment and silos was a pursuit Walter earned many sales awards for. He represented Kosher Silos, Agromatic, Acorn, Midwest Silos, Berg and Badger Farm Equipment. He served on the board of directors of the Edgar Co-op, had a great love of farm life and the animals on the farm. Walter possessed great zest for life and had a wonderful sense of humor. He also enjoyed the time spent with "the gang" that gathered to celebrate fun times such as birthdays, anniversaries and a good game of sheepshead.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Arlene; his children, Marilyn (David) Juillerat, Pleasanton, CA, Gary Hannemann, Pagosa Springs, CO, Jane Hannemann, Chicago, James (Rhonda) Hannemann, Edgar, Les (Mary) Hannemann, Davenport, WA, Gail (Michael) Doering, Winona, MN, David (Christene) Hannemann, Edgar, and Kathryn Hannemann and Tracy Hannemann, both of Milwaukee; and 13 grandchildren, Kate, Thomas and Matthew Juillerat, Evan and Austin Hannemann, Leslie and Christine Hannemann, Jacob, William, Lucas and Adam Hannemann, and Hannah and Aidan Doering.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Rademacher and Cedonia Munes.
