Lyle J. Vander Velden, formerly of S. Railroad St., Kimberly, age 74, died Tuesday, February 4, 1986 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 22, 1911, in Kimberly. He was a businessman in the Kimberly areas and worked for the Atlas Mill, Appleton. He was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church, and a member of the first graduating class of Kimberly High School, in 1928.
Survivors include three sons and four daughters in-law; Ken and Karin, Kaukauna; Gene and Grace, Kimberly; Jeff and Laurie, Sun Prairie; Bonnie, Columbus; two brothers; Urban Vanden Velden, Shawano Lake; and Elmer Vander Velden, Kimberly; a sister, Mrs. Martha Schwab, Cable; thirteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Estelle Maciejewski, in 1951; his second wife, Dina Runge, in 1980; a son, Gerald; two brothers, Simon, and Clybourne.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church, with Msgr. Carl Steiner officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, from 4 to 0 p.m. Wednesday [tonight] and after 12:30 p.m. Thursday until the cortege leaves for the church. A parish prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. this evening. A memorial has been established.
