- Dominic Peeters, 91, Little Chute, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at St. Paul Home, with his family at his side. Don was born Oct. 29, 1919, to the late Stephen and Dinah (Dercks) Peeters. He married Irene Verstegen on July 12, 1941, at St. John Nepomucene during a double wedding ceremony with her twin sister, Ida, and her husband, Jim.
Don was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church where he served as a communion distributor, usher and lector. He also volunteered at the St. John Food Pantry. Don was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. He worked as a deputy and Register of Deeds in Outagamie County for 43 years.
Don was a member of the Fox Valley Golf Club for over 60 years. He was a gifted athlete in school, the Army, and later years and was inducted into the St. John's Hall of Fame. He used his talents to coach and referee youth teams. Don and Irene loved to dance together, especially to Big Band music. He will be remembered as a generous devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He had a great sense of humor and was a gifted story teller.
Dominic is survived by his children, Dianne (Donald) Hermsen, Kaukauna; Linda (Dr. Adrian) Ebben, Kaukauna; Christine (Ronald "Mart") Lamers, Little Chute; Stephen (Susan) Peeters, De Pere; and Jeffrey (Denise) Peeters, Little Chute; 16 grandchildren, Deborah (Alan) Lamers, Michael (Pam) Hermsen, Karen (Greg) Kilgas, Gregory (Julie) Hermsen, Stacy (Troy) Weyenberg, Abby (Phil) Vanden Heuvel, Mary (Reg) Wydeven, Kathryn (Steve) Schepp, Susan (Jim) Hammen, Beth (Chad) De Leeuw, Anne (Brian) Rosin and Sara, Dominic, Derek, Kurt (Jennifer) and Seth Peeters; great-grandchildren, Brad (Justine), Abby, Rachel, Zachary, Jenny (Todd), Jake, Luke, Matthew, Paul, Dianne, Adam, Kevin, Lauren, Amanda, Alyssa, Noah, Ethan, Kaleb, Abram, Halle, Titus, Gabe, Michael, Ebben Lynn, Matthew, Mike, Megan (fiance Matt), Matt, David, Brooke, Tracy, Calla, Sam and Emily; great-great-grandchildren, Walker, Mackenzie, Jonah and Ezra; brother, Mark Peeters; and in-laws, (Irene's twin) Ida and Jim Peeters and Loretta Hoelzel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Irene, Dominic was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna Mae; great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Amy Jo and Silas; brothers and sisters, Carl "Kelly" (Irene) Peeters, Cele (Earl) Schuler, Eugene (Bernice) Peeters, Ann (Ernest) Verstegen, Mary Ellen, Monica and Rita Peeters; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernice (Joseph) Vander Velden, Lester (Peg), Clarence, Robert (Lil), Gerald (Margaret), Ernest (Ann), Joseph (Charlotte), Carl (Marie), Regina (Clarence) Bouressa, Joanne Hawley and infant, Aloysius Verstegen.
Visitation will be held at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St., Little Chute) on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, beginning at 3 p.m. until time of Mass at 5 p.m. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. Full military honors conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow. Committal at St. John Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established to benefit St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and/or Fr. Bert Ebben's Mission.
