    • Wallace G. Bergman “Wally” Appleton

      Age 76, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at his home. He was born on September 15, 1926 in New London, Wisconsin the son of the late Hugo and Grace (Pieper) Bergman. On February 19, 1955 he married June Goehler in Appleton. He served his country in the United States Navy on the LSM-II landing ship during World War II. June and Wally enjoyed attending the annual reunions of people who served on that ship. He owned and operated Wally’s Keg in Appleton, and was also employed at Riverside Paper Company. Wally was a member of Post # 38 of the American Legion of Appleton, was an avid duck hunter and fisherman, and Green Bay Packer fan. He is survived by his wife June of Appleton, his brothers and sisters: Sally Matthewson, Thomas (Jean) Bergman, and Richard Bergman all of New London, Irma West of Phoenix, Arizona, June Miller of Walla Walla, Washington, Carl (Ella) Bergman of Appleton, his sister-in-law Marjorie Bergman of Appleton; his wife June’s brothers and sisters: Bernice Williams, Marie (Sam) Achterberg, Jerry (Mary) Goehler, Ione (Cyril) Loughrin, Phyllis Goehler, Ella (Carl) Bergman, all of Appleton, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Norvell and David Bergman, and June’s brother Michael Goehler. The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church, 900 North Mason Street with the Rev. Chuck Fluegel officiating. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
