| Photos | Marion Geraldine Steward December 9, 1930 — September 9, 2023 Appleton Marion G. Steward, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023. She was born on December 9, 1930, in Appleton, the daughter of Raymond and Viola (Mitchell) Dakins. Marion graduated from Appleton High School, the Class of 1949, and was then united in marriage to Douglas Steward on June 9, 1951. She was a volunteer for many years as a “pink lady” at Appleton Memorial Hospital. Marion enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, watching and feeding the birds. She will be remembered most as a kind- and big-hearted woman, great listener, and for being non-judgmental. Marion was a great mom, who loved her children dearly. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton. Marion is survived by 2 sons: Larry (Patti) Steward and Kenneth (Janet) Steward; 2 daughters: Debra (Roger) Bricco and Susan (Greg) Krause; grandchildren: Jeff Steward, Tim (Shauntay) Steward, Lisa Steward, Brian (Leslie) Grogan, Tanya (Jayme) McQuillan, Shane Bricco, and Benjamin (Heather) Bricco; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister: Beverly Stingle; 4 half siblings: Kathy Carnot, Jerry Dakins, Denny Dakins, and Bob Dakins; other relatives and friends. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a grandson: James Steward. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. The visitation will be on Monday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of the service. The interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Marion’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Carolina Manor Assisted Living and the Renaissance Assisted Living for their care, compassion, and kindness. |
