    • Stockbridge – Complication that set in after a major operation last winter proved fatal to John C. Hemauer, who died at St. Agnes hospital, Fond du Lac, Friday night. Mr. Hemauer had been at the hospital for two months following the operation but had been able to work on his farm during the past several months. He returned to the hospital a few days before his death.
He was born in Stockbridge April 6, 1880, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hemauer, both deceased and was married to Miss Rose Nadler at St. Mary’s church, Chilton, June 6, 1911.
The young couple settled on a farm on the road known as the Wingers place. In 1916, Mr. Hemauer moved to his present farm located about a half mile north of this village.
The deceased was town treasurer in 1911 and later town chairman. He was trustee of St. Mary’s church for 13 years and was also on the building committee of the church. During the past five years he was on the county highway crew.
Besides his wife he is survived by 13 children; Mrs. Gib Schoen, Stockbridge; Alfred, Potter; Mabel, Phillips; Jerome, a student at St. Nazianz; Leo, Robert, Frances, Clarence, James, Elaine, Doris, John, Jr., and Rosemary at home. Two sons, Walter and Joe preceded their father in death, the former in infancy and the latter in an auto accident in 1936.
A sister, Mrs. Joe Schroven, two brothers, George and Joe, and three half-brothers, Frank, Herman and Henry also survive. All live in Stockbridge.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Mary’s church with burial in the church cemetery.
