- Appleton - Geraldine A. Cooper, age 76, of Appleton passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at ThedaCare Hospice residence. She was born on June 30, 1941 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, daughter of the late John and Mabel (Hemauer) Cooper. After high school, Geraldine earned her Bachelor's in Nursing from Marian College, and went on to earn her Master's in Nursing Education from UW Oshkosh. She was a long-time hospice RN, and a nursing instructor at Fox Valley Technical College. Gerrie was a very devoted Christian woman with strong faith.
She will be sadly missed by her sisters: Ruth (Dennis) Olson, Kaukauna; Grace (Anton) Lauer, Hortonville; sisters-in-law: Nancy Romenesko, Kaukauna; Jane Shepard, Crandon; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: John Cooper and Gerald Cooper; and brother-in-law, Keith Verstegen.
Funeral Mass for Gerrie will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish (2331 E. Lourdes Dr., Appleton) with Father Don Zuleger officiating. Friends will be received directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Appleton at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Relief Services, or to St. Bernadette Parish.
Gerrie would like to thank her family; staffs and volunteers of St. Paul Hospice, ThedaCare at Home Hospice; and Home Instead for their care and compassion throughout her illness.
