- Glen Meinert, 84, Kaukauna, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Glen was born in Kaukauna, on Dec. 3, 1925, son of the late Henry and Mathilda (Perleberg) Meinert. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy and upon his return, took up a pipefitting apprenticeship at Thilmany Pulp and Paper. Glen retired from Thilmany after 44 dedicated years.
Glen was married to the former Arlette Blaha and she preceded him in death in 2000. He was also a member of the Kaukauna American Legion Post #41 and Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and bowling, and always looked forward to visiting Ellen when she lived in Chippewa Falls. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his children and granddaughters.
Glen is survived by two children, Mark Meinert, Kaukauna, and his special friend, Peggy Stone; and Beth (Doug) Olson, Freedom; two granddaughters, Michelle and Karissa Meinert; a sister, Gladys Giebisch, Menasha; and three sisters-in-law, Dolores Meinert, Kaukauna; Vivian (Dan) Sachs, New London; and Norrine (Doug) Devenport, West Bend; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlette, in 2000; a daughter, Ellen, in 2008; a brother, Art; and a sister, Jean (Harold) Frederick.
The Christian Funeral for Glen will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna, with the Rev. Karl Schultz officiating. Military honors will follow the worship service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday afternoon from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
