Notes - Father Anthony H. Huitink, native of Holland and son of
Gerod Huitink, was born on September 30, 1849. In 1878 he came to Freedom,
where his brother John was engaged in farming. After one year, he began studies
for the priesthood, completing them at Mount Calvary, Wisconsin, and St.
Francis Seminary, Milwaukee. He was ordained on June 21, 1890. Besides his
brief pastorate at Freedom in 1901, he cared for parishes in Kaukauna (St. Mary),
eenah, Stephensville, Greenville. and Jericho. where he died on July IS, 1910.
