- Clarence Patrick O'Connor, (The Judge), died Friday, May 9, 2003, at Franciscan Care, Appleton, Wisconsin, following a year-long illness.
Clarence was born November 9, 1919, in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, son of James and Mamie O'Connor. Husband of Katherine (nee Sestric). Father ofSusan (Ed) Patschke, Kevin (Cheryl), Barry (Rebecca), Marianne (Dennis) Bach, Ellen (Joel) Sauer. Wonderful grandpa of Ryan and Sarah Patschke; Clare, Meredith and Caitlin O'Connor; Benjamin, Samuel and Alex O'Connor; Emily, Eric, Charles, and Samuel Bach; Alexandra, Calvin and Drew Sauer. Also survived by sisters Eileen Nagao, Marian, Florence (John) Roberts, Margaret (Fred) Wick and a brother, Earl (Marge) O'Connor. Further survived by many, many nieces nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by a son, Patrick, his parents James and Mamie, a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Gladys and brother-in-law, Paul Nagan.
Clarence attended UW-Madison graduating with an undergraduate degree in business in 1942 and subsequently obtained his CPA license. After serving in France in WW II, he attended UW-Madison Law School. He subsequently worked as an auditor for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and Kimberly Clark Corporation in Neenah, Wisconsin, before entering the private practice oflaw with his long-time friend and colleague, the late James McFadden. McFadden and O'Connor served the Kaukauna community for over twenty years until Jim retired. Clarence retired in the 1980's and sold the practice to Paul VanBerkel.
Clarence served as municipal judge for the City ofKaukauna for over twenty years. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, the VFW, and the American Legion.
Clarence loved bowling with the guys on Wednesday nights. And his hole-in-one in 1983 paled in comparison to all the other times spent with his buddies at the Fox Valley GolfClllb playing 9 or 18 on Thursdays.
The family would like to thank all ofClarence's caregivers at Franciscan Care for their fantastic treatment of dad this past year and to ThedaCare Hospice caregivers for the lOVing and careful attention these
past two weeks.
