- Muriel M. Powell, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on February 26, 1917, in Marinette, WI, daughter of the late William and Lillian (Moss) Plog. Muriel was united in marriage to Eugene J. Powell on September 7, 1946. She was a great wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. When she was able, she loved to cook and bake. She was very good at it too! Muriel enjoyed watching the Packers and NASCAR; she may have placed a bet or two. All the family had great times when she was around and have many stories to share.
Muriel is survived by her son and two daughters-in-law: Ron and Debbie Powell, and Patricia Powell; six grandchildren: Shawn (Wendy) Powell, Paula (Tom) Landry, Shannon Powell, Chad (Laura) Powell, Jim (special friend Ann) Powell, and Christine Powell; eight great-grandchildren: Kaylynn, JJ, Alyssa, Jacob, Nathan, Travis, Chloe and Dylan; two great-great-grandchildren: Melanie and James; two brothers and a sister: Gerald (Alice) Plog, Howard (Elaine) Plog, and Geraldine Allison; a sister-in-law, Doris Powell. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene, a son Gary, three brothers: Harold, Milton and Clyde; sister and brother-in-law: Vernal and Jim Denis, and a brother-in-law, Bill Allison.
Funeral service for Muriel will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, with Rev. Walt Steinbach officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Muriel's name is being established.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff's at AMC and Appleton Health Care Center.
