Warren James Dahlgren was born September 23, 1920, in Revillo, SD. He was the son of Erick and Mazy (Marquette) Dahlgren. He attended grade school at Revillo through the third grade, then Country School #7. In 1941 he moved to California and worked in an aircraft factory. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and went to boot camp on Catalina Island. Warren was sent to Connecticut to a school for machinists. He later returned to Long Beach, California.

Warren was united in marriage with Gladys Tillman in North Hollywood, California on May 23, 1942. During that time he served on a seagoing tug. When the war was over Warren shingled houses for a time. They moved back to South Dakota in 1947 and he worked in Big Stone City and at the quarry. He started farming with his dad in 1949 and eventually bought the farm in 1960.

Warren sold the farmland in 1980 but lived on the homestead until 2001 when he sold that as well. Warren was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the NFO.

Warren loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He especially enjoyed going to the Missouri River and catching salmon and walleye.

Warren died on October 16, 2014, at St. William's Care Center in Milbank, having reached the age of 94.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Julayne (Noel) White of Corona, SD; Jeanne Dahlgren of Milbank, SD; son-in-law, Tim Keller of Milbank, SD; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Joyce Strube.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Erick and Mazy; his wife, Gladys who died in 1994; his daughter, Kay Lynn Keller who died in 2001; his grandson, Cory Neu, who died in 1995; one brother, Willard; and three sisters: Hazel; twins Mazy and Mary.
