- SUN PRAIRIE - Victor P. Schmidt, age 93, went to eternal life on Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, to be with his wife, Betty, who died three days earlier. He was born in Appleton on Aug. 29, 1911, the son of Robert and Pauline (Scherck) Schmidt. He married Elizabeth C. Kamps, in Appleton, in 1935, and lived there until the mid 1960s when Victor and Betty moved to Sun Prairie. In Appleton, Victor was a stock holder and officer of the Standard Manufacturing Company, a lumber and millwork producer. Upon moving to Sun Prairie, he joined Don Simon Realtors as their first sales person and worked for that company until his retirement in 1976. He was a Kiwanian and long time member of the Knights of Pythias. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening and his lifelong love of wood working. In later years, he founded and organized the Skat Club (card game) at the Colonial Club Retirement Center, Sun Prairie. He is survived by a son, Paul (Bonnie) of Sun Prairie; two daughters, Peg (Don) Pitzen of Sheboygan. and Barbara Luebke of Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; a son, Daniel Scott; his parents; two brothers, Paul and Charles; and two sisters, Helen and Mary. A visitation will be held in Sun Prairie at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 227 Columbus St., TODAY, Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, from 10:30 a.m. until noon after which a Mass of celebration of Victor and Betty's life will be held, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be at the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Appleton.
