- Funeral services Friday for George Walter Sr.
George M. Walter Sr., 55, of 421 W. Fillmore Ave., died Monday evening at his summer home on Lake Altoona.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, two daughters, Mrs. Joe Bebout, Kingsville, Tex., Susan, Milwaukee; five sons, George Jr., and Mark, both of Eau Claire, Thomas, Jacksonville, Fla., Michael and John, both at home; four step-daughters, Mrs. Henry Savelkoul, Albert Lea, Minn., Mrs. Rucker Burks, Tustin, Calif., Mrs. William Hagmann, Fall Creek, Cathy Sykes, Lakeville, Minn.; one step-son, James Sykes, Watertown; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Walter, Lake Wissota; three sisters, Mrs. Roy Dennis and Mrs. James Gagnon, both of Eau Claire, Mrs. Al Kendall, Reading, Pa.; three brothers, Dr. Karl Walter and Dr. William Walter, both of Eau Claire, John Walter, Pittsburgh, Pa.; eight grandchildren and none stip=grandchildren.
Mr. Walter was born July 19, 1917, at Appleton. He came to Eau Claire in 1950 and was president of the Walter Brewing Co.
His memberships include St. Patrick's Parish, Sr. Patrick's Parish Council, (former) Eau Claire Police Reserves, veteran of World War II, American Legion, Knights of Columbus JOhn F. Kennedy Council 1257, Third Order of St. Francis, President's Club, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, United Commercial Travelers, Eagles Club, Moose Club, Elks Club, the Society for Advancement of Management and First Friday Club of St. Patrick's Parish.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Golden Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. Bernard McGarty officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Thursday until services Friday.
Rosary services at the funeral home will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday for Third Order of St. Francis, 7 p.m. for Knights of Columbus and 8 p.m. for the public.
The family requests that memorials be given.
