    • Died Suddenly – On Monday last, a telegram was received in this city, which brought the intelligence of the death of Peter Lauer, which occurred suddenly at Pella, Shawano County. Some three weeks ago, Mr. Laurer left this city for Pella, to visit his step-son, Michael Lauer.(sic) He had completed his visit and was about to get into a buggy to go to the railroad station and take the train, when he dropped dead from heart failure. His sudden death was a severe shock to relatives and friends.
He was born in Germany Jan. 10, 1830. In 1862 he came to America and shortly afterwards settled in the town of Woodville. He was an industrious man and became a leading farmer of the town. Some 14 years ago, he disposed of this farm and took up his residence in this city, where he has since made his home.
He knew how to make himself agreeable and made many friends.
His funeral took place on Wednesday from the Catholic Church at St. John and was largely attended. A widow, three sons and four daughters survive him.
