    • Walter J. Ringer, Jr. 80, Henderson, Nev., passed away peacefully at his home on April 5, 2014. He was born on May 20, 1933, in Green Bay, Wis., to Walter, Sr. and Emma Ringer. Wally was the youngest of the of the six Ringer kids and grew up in Duck Creek, Wis. After graduating from Green Bay West High School in 1950, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. Wally was a proud sailor and kept in touch with his shipmates in Patrol Squadron 10, (VP-10). He married Ann Vannieuwenhoven in 1956 and they celebrated 53 years of marriage before her death in 2010.

Wally was best known as the "Midas Man" in the Fox Valley, where he owned and operated three Midas Muffler Shops for 14 years. He was always affectionately referred to as "the Old Man" by his many employees over the years. He exemplified honesty and integrity in his business and always led by example. Wally expected only the best from himself and settled for no less from his employees. In his spare time, he could be found hunting or fishing in his earlier years and loved watching the Badgers and Packers. As his health faded, he relaxed to the TV watching his oldies, in particular the westerns.

Wally was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and he always remembered birthdays and anniversaries. His mind remained razor sharp even as his body failed him. He is survived by daughter, Joanne, Henderson, Nev.; and sons, Michael (Peggy), Menasha, Wis.; and Patrick (Nancy), Appleton; grandchildren, Jennifer (Rob) Janes, St. Louis, Mo.; Casey (Erica Goller), Hortonville, Wis.; Katie (Adam Barnett), Appleton, Wis.; Jeremy Howard, Appleton, Wis.; Kevin (Amanda Smith), Neenah, Wis.; Kimberly Ringer, Appleton, Wis. Additionally Wally is survived by seven great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Wally was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, grandson, Colt, one brother, Gerald, sisters, Claribel, Jeanne, Minnie, and Caroline.

We wish to thank all those involved in Dad's care in his final years. Cancer is an awful disease to live with and he had the finest Hospice and medical care possible. Please direct any donations to the American Cancer Society to fight this horrible disease. As per Wally's wishes, there will be no service at this time.
