    • Dennis J. De Deker, age 84, of Stevens Point, died November 6, 2016 at the Portage County Health Care Center surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was born October 30, 1932 to the late Henry & Hazel (Desormeau) DeDeker in Appleton, WI. He grew up in Beloit, WI, attended the local schools, and graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1950.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Cold War. He was honorably discharged in 1955.

Following his service to his country, Dennis attended UWSP, earning his Bachelor's degree in 1958 in Educational Conservation. He was a Conservation & Biology teacher and JV Basketball Coach at P.J. Jacobs High School and SPASH until his retirement in 1988.

Dennis married Doris J. Cobb on August 11, 1956 in Beloit, WI. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2000.

Dennis will be remembered for his giving persona; whether it was in education, sports, or to his family. He dedicated his life to sports; coaching high school basketball, refereeing basketball games, umpiring women's fast pitch softball, running the time clock at UWSP football games, or just attending or listening to games on his radio. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, and traveling, but his favorite hobby was fishing. He was one of the few to start up the Boston School Forest program.

He is survived by his children, Denise (William) Stoltenberg, Dianna (Steve) Eggert, Dena (Randall) Kawski, Donna (Dean) Kaetterhenry, and Daryl "Bo" (fiancee Dana Wanichek) DeDeker; grandchildren, Charlie (Katie) Stoltenberg, Heather Feltz, Michelle Feltz, Angela (Coty) Kroening-Kawski, Nikki (fiance Lawrence Andersen) Kawski, Elizabeth (Robert) Woodard, Jaimee (fiance Kyle Dallman) Kaetterhenry, Dexter (Sarah) Kaetterhenry, and Dylan, Benjamin, and Zachary DeDeker; great-grandchildren, Avi Kroening & Maggie Dallman; and his very special friend, Goldene Purcell. He is further survived by his sister, Connie Peters; sister-in-law, Sarah (Ray) Fiorucci; brother-in-law, Fred Whittemore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; and sister-in-laws, Helen Fiorucci and JoAnne Whittemore.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2016 at Boston Funeral Home. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPASH Athletics for their athletic program. Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.

The family would like to thank the Portage County Health Care Center and Ministry Hospice for their sincere care that was given to Dennis.
