    Obituary Bernard 'Bernie' Schumacher
    Obituary Bernard "Bernie" Schumacher
Bernard "Bernie" H. Schumacher, age 82, of Freedom passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Country Villa in Freedom.

He was born on January 24, 1941 to the late Henry and Agnes (Biese) Schumacher. Bernie was united in marriage Lucille Noe on September 17, 1960. She preceded him in death on August 31, 2011 following over 50 years of marriage.

He was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom and watched from home when he wasn't able to attend.

Bernie worked several jobs, which included driving truck, in his younger years so that he could fulfill his dream of buying a dairy farm where he and Lucille raised their family. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with Lucille, snowmobiling, listening to polkas and Polka Days, bowling, playing sheepshead, going to the Outagamie County Fair, and watching the Packer games. Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his children: Sheryl (Russ) Nieland, Scott Schumacher, Jodi (Francis) Lamers, Beth (Paul) Olp, and Heather Schumacher; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way; sisters: Mary Ann Lancour; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters: Staci Lee Schumacher and Dawn Waterman; siblings: Rich (Wilma) Schumacher, Rose Mirkes, Betty (Al) Miller, and Roger Schumacher.

Visitation for Bernie will take place at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Fr. Robert Chinnapan and Deacon Gary Van Ess officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
