      Farmer William Retzlaff suffered a heavy loss by fire Tuesday night, his large barn, grainary and out-buildings, together with contents being entirely destroyed.
      The orgin of the fire is unknown. Mr. Retzlaff made his usual rounds before retiring and found everything alright. About ten PM they were awakened by the bright light, and roar of the blaze to find the barn inveloped in flames. Three horses, several head of stock, farm machinery and most of this years grain, was all burned. The roof of the residence nearby also took fire, but by diligent work the house was saved. The lost will be at least $1500. over and above insurance,
      and is a severe blow for Mr. Retzlaff.

      William Retzlaff, 79, 923 W. Loraine St., died at 10 o'clock Friday at his home after a two week illness. He was born February 14, 1852 in Germany and came to the United States at the age of 17. He lived for a few years in Sterling, Illinois and later moved to a farm in Woodville. He and his wife came to Appleton 10 years ago. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary December 1, 1930.
      Survivors are the widow, formerly Augusta Balgie, two sons, Emil, Wausau; Reno, Appleton; four daughters, Mrs. William Lopas, Kaukauna; Mrs. Fred Wichmann, Mrs. Ed. Schmiege, Appleton; Mrs. John Walters, Anitgo; 9 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. John Lopas, Menasha.
      The funeral will be held at 1:30 Monday afternoon from the home and at 2 o'clock from St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Rev. T.J. Sauer will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
