Charles Friar, aged 30 years, died Tuesday afternoon at five o'clock at his home on Depot street after a long illness.
Mr. Friar had been employed several years by the Chicago and Northwestern Railway company as a boiler maker until about 18 months ago when his condition became such that he laid off. Last April he purchased the grocery stock of Charles Ristau at the corner of Draper and Depot streets, which business he was able to oversee until a month ago when he was taken more seriously ill and kept his rooms until death came.
Charles Friar was born at Goldburg, Germany, May 16, 1881, and came to America with his parents when he was about two years of age, settling at Hortonville until nineteen years ago when he came to Kaukauna where he has since resided. Mr. Friar was married nine years ago to Miss Anna Haag, who with four children survive: the children are Arthur, Walter, Loretta, and Norman Friar, also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Friar, a brother Herman and two sisters, Mrs. Albert Balck of this city and Mrs. Christ. Warning of Hortonville.
The funeral was held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church, the Rev. William Hinnenthal officiating.
