    • George R. Beattie, 76, of Parkview Home, Brillion, died unexpectedly New Year’s Day at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, shortly after admittance.

      Born April 17, 1895 at Inland, Wis., he was a son of the late James and Sarah Dexter Beattie. He married the former Edith Dexter June 24, 1924 in Menominee, Mich.

      Mr. Beattie was a veteran of World War I and was in the Merchant Marine during World War II.

      He worked at Plywood Products Co in New London before moving to Brillion 25 years ago where he was employed at Brillion Iron Works, retiring 12 years ago.

      He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Brillion, and the Brillion American Legion Post.

      Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Mavis) Coe and Mrs. Lawrence (Doris) Lutz, both of Shiocton, and Mrs. Clayton (Sarah) Arndt and Mrs. Norbert (Sandra) Kuckenbecker, both of Brillion; five sons, George Jr., John and David, all of Brillion, Robert of Cecil and Melvin of Hartland; 46 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Blaske and Mrs. Reuben Voss, and a brother, Marvin, all of New London.

      Funeral services were held at Peace UCC, Brillion, the Rev. John Geiser, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Community Cemetery, Brillion.
